Bangladesh's
Abul Hasan became only the second player in Test history to score a
century on debut, while batting at number 10, as the home side staged a
remarkable fightback against the West Indies despite five wickets from
Fidel Edwards.
Edwards, who took 5-81, ripped through the Bangladesh top order, with most of the home side's players getting out despite having a solid start.
In a dramatic final session, Bangladesh resumed on 186-6 and soon lost two quick wickets, leaving it struggling on 193-8.
Mahmudullah (72 not out) and Abul Hasan (100 not out) then combined in a stunning partnership, which saw Hasan become only the fourth number 10 in history to make a Test century.
The current ninth wicket partnership is 163 - the world record stand is 195 for the ninth wicket by Mark Boucher and Pat Symcox against Pakistan in 1998.
