Arab Emirates (UAE) skipper Khurram Khan led from the front with a
hundred in response to Ireland's 589 for seven on the third day of the
ICC Intercontinental Cup match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on
Thursday.
UAE ended third day's play at 302 for six, still 287 runs behind Ireland.
Khan (115: 232b, 17x4) added 187 runs for the second wicket with Arshad Ali (95: 271b, 10x4) to lead a strong reply for the host.
UAE chugged along nicely from an overnight 56 for one to 210 for two before Khan was dismissed by Trent Johnston.
Thereafter, UAE slipped from 210 for one to 248 for six in a space of 15.1 overs.
Swapnil Patil (50 not out: 103b, 6x4) held the innings together when stumps were drawn.
John Mooney (2-41) and George Dockrell (2-97) were Ireland's best bowlers on view.
