Afghanistan
wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad starred in his side's impressive 27-runs
win over Scotland in the first Twenty20 International played at the
Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Batting first Afghanistan posted 132 for seven in its 20 overs and Scotland in its chase was restricted to 105 for six in its 20 overs.
Earlier, Shahzad slammed 55 off 46 balls with six boundaries and a six. He shared a 79-runs stand with Asghar Stanikzai (30).
For Scotland, Iain Wardlaw (2-30), Neil Carter (2-27) and Matt Machan (3-23) were the key wicket-takers.
In its reply, Scotland lost wickets at regular intervals.
Matt Machan (42 not out) remained unbeaten in the chase but the asking rate kept rising all the time.
Skipper Mohammad Nabi (2-12) was the best bowler on view for Afghanistan.
Shahzad was named player of the match for his effort with the bat.
