Australia captain Michael Clarke and South Africa all-rounder Jacques
Kallis have both boosted their positions in the Reliance ICC Player
Rankings for Test batsmen this week after strong performances in the
recently completed Test match between the two countries in Brisbane.
Clarke's 259 not out at the 'Gabba has seen him rise two places to fourth in the rankings, while Kallis has risen one place to third after his 147 in the first innings. Kallis' team-mate Hashim Amla has further secured second place in the table and a career-best rating after also scoring a century in the match.
The trio is fast approaching Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, who tops the table, with just 16 points between Amla and Sangakkara and 35 ratings points between Clarke and the Sri Lanka batsman.
Australia batsman Mike Hussey has also risen in the table, by four places, to now occupy 13th place, while team-mate Ed Cowan, who made his debut Test century in the drawn fixture, has broken into the top 50 for the first time and is now ranked 48th.
In the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers there is no change at the top of the table, which is still headed by South Africa's Dale Steyn with team-mate Vernon Philander in second. Outside of the top 20, Australia's James Pattinson has risen five places to 26th while Nathan Lyon has risen three places to 32nd.
The Test player rankings will be further updated at the conclusion of the current Test between Bangladesh and West Indies in Dhaka, the first Test between India and England in Ahmedabad and the first Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand in Galle.
